AUTUMN TEACHES US HOW IMPORTANT LETTING GO IS

Autumn is much more than the season with the most beautiful colors. It's the time of change, the time when the trees let their leaves fall down and die. Autumn teaches how important letting go of the things that no longer serve us is. It shows that in order to change for the better you need to let the old leaves go, even if your branches will be bare for a while.

Only this way can new sprouts be born and flourish.

What are you holding on to?

Maybe you’re holding on to an idea, some limiting beliefs, or maybe the kind of person you were told to be rather than the one you truly are. Maybe you’re working in a job that sucks the life out of you instead of starting your own business, or maybe you are staying in a relationship that no longer feels right instead of ending it.

Whatever you may be holding on to, you should learn to let go and move ahead with your life as trees do with leaves.

But, too often we choose to cling to the past which becomes a heavy burden to carry.

It leads us down the rabbit hole of despair and suffering to the extent that we end up hating our lives.

Remember: If the past is bitter and is making you unhappy, letting go is not simply an option, it’s an act of self-love you owe to yourself and to the people who love you.

“If you want things to change, you have to change. If you want things to be better, You have to be better”. - Jim Rohn

WHY IS LETTING GO SO HARD?

Letting go is hard because it means that you need to question choices you made in the past.

It’s hard because you need to let go of things that have become part of yourself – your identity

When you keep repeating the same behavioral patterns it feels like that’s how life is meant to be.

Our brains are hardwired to keep us “safe”.

Hence, we tend to stick to what we know, even if it causes suffering.

Letting go is scary.

Since life is unpredictable, knowing what to expect is reassuring. At least with the current burden, you know what to expect, don’t you?

As the old saying goes: “Better the devil you know than the devil you don't”.

What nonsense!

Our inner self-criticizing talk uses the fear of the unknown to protect us:

“Why should I take any risks…? What if something bad happens…?”

The end result is that we sabotage ourselves, making the same “wrong” choices over and over again; holding on to something that acts as a straight-jacket.

“It’s all risky! The minute you were born it got risky. Getting married is risky, having children is risky, going into business is risky, investing your money is risky. It's all risky. I'll tell you how risky life is, you're not going to get out alive”. - Jim Rohn

WHAT LETTING GO MEANS - FEELING LIGHTER AND BEING OPEN TO NEW OPPORTUNITIES

Letting go means tidying up your life, your mind, your heart, and your soul.

In short, it means starting with new stimuli and leaving behind what no longer serves you - a heavy burden - that hinders you from achieving your goals and living your best life.

When we let go, we create space, we make room for new opportunities.

We might meet like-minded people - perhaps a soul mate -, start a new exciting career, take up new hobbies, and so on.

But, unless we first let the old dry leaves fall to the ground, there will be no space for these lavish leaves.

Letting go leads to clarity, and clarity leads to new insight.

We clear a new pathway for sun rays to flow in and give way to personal growth and self-discovery.

IF YOU WANT TO BE BORN AGAIN AND FLOURISH, YOU MUST FIRST LET GO!

What do trees in spring look like? They look amazing, full of colors, they are fragrant, and full of life.

Each of us can be like this, provided we first do what trees do in the autumn, i.e. have the courage to let go.

All the things that prevent us from feeling happy will fall off like dry leaves, and only at that stage will our lives regain their lost flavor.

Let autumn be your guide, let go of whatever you’ve been holding onto with peace, love, and joy knowing that something magical is waiting for you.
