writing: let it go

DOES IT SERVE YOU? IF NOT, LET GO OF IT!

In order to have an extraordinary life and live up to your full potential, you MUST let go of what doesn’t serve you anymore.

We can compare this to a seasonal wardrobe change.

As it is necessary to get rid of old clothes, in the same way, we must get rid of everything that prevents us from living up to our full potential.

When you have a goal in life, in order to achieve it you have to equip yourself with what can ease your journey and abandon what can stop it.

You have to re-organise your relationships, habits, and convictions.

Ask yourself:

  • Are my relationships leading me towards my goal?
  • Are my habits leading me towards my goal?
  • Are my convictions leading me towards my goal?

PEOPLE AROUND US

The relationships with the people we are surrounded by considerably impact our lives.

Research shows how the environment we grew up in, family, peers, schools, communities, and media influence our behavior and, as a result, our success in life.

People are really important for our personal growth.

So, if you realize that somebody in your circle of friends or even in your family has a negative attitude, and is always ready to complain and blame someone or something else for their misfortunes, be really careful, because they can negatively affect your life.

I know that it can be difficult to break a friendship that maybe started a long time ago, but you must become aware that if somebody has a negative impact on you, you will not be able to express the best of yourself.

And this will inevitably affect all the spheres of your life.

Energy is contagious and so, if you mingle with negative people, you will end up becoming one of them.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. - Jim Rohn

That’s why you had better choose meticulously whom you associate with.

Birds of a feather flock together.

So, if you hang out with five drug dealers, you are most likely to become the sixth.

If you hang out with five millionaires, you are most likely to become the sixth.

You are more than likely to become like the people you hang out with.

The bottom line is that you should engage with like-minded people, people that are driven by the same goals and values.

People you can feel a deep connection with.

Those people are the ones that understand your needs, your desires, and your fears without judging you.

They are ready to listen to you and have your back whenever you need help.

Only by engaging with like-minded people are you most likely to draw upon your true potential and show up in the best version of yourself.

These are the people that add quality to your life, and these are the people that will contribute to your success.

And thanks to them you will also be able to add value to other people’s lives.

People affect our way of thinking, our self-esteem, and our decisions.

Just think of your past experiences.

How did you feel when you were pursuing something really important for you and somebody really pessimistic tried to stop you without even asking why you wanted whatever you were trying to achieve?

I guess it wasn’t pleasant and probably it distressed you.

And even worse, it slowed you down and discouraged you from pursuing your goals.

It stopped you from taking action, from moving towards your goal.

We must avoid these situations for our general well-being, and if it means alienating a person from our lives, we must crack on.

You can’t hang out with pessimistic and negative people and expect to live a positive life!

If the relationship with a person is stopping you from growing, from becoming a better version of yourself you need either to completely get rid of that relationship or spend a lot less time with that person.

Let me ask you:

Would you stick out with a person you know has Covid-19?

You wouldn’t unless you were a masochist.

Well, I believe you had better stay away from negative people in the same way you stay away from people suffering from Covid-19.

It would be best if you made it a priority to spend time with people who are already living the life you ultimately want to live.

THOUGHTS, HABITS, CONVICTIONS

Another aspect that most people tend to underestimate is the effect of thoughts, habits, and convictions on life.

Our thoughts create our reality, they can either propel us forward or hold us back and keep us far away from living a fulfilling existence.

You must start studying yourself from top to bottom, observing your thoughts, beliefs, habits, convictions, and fears.

What are the patterns that are holding you back?

Because of them, you will end up regretting the many opportunities you missed.

Regret is the ultimate failure, it has the power to ruin your life forever.

You have to choose to experience either the pain of discipline, i.e. the pain of going through the difficulties that separate you from where you are and where you want to get, or the pain of regret.

The first pain is temporary, instead, the second one lasts forever.

Your thoughts, habits, and convictions have been framed within you by the environment you have grown up in and by the people you have been surrounded by.

You were not born with them, you were not born with convictions such as: “I am not good enough, I am shy, I am stupid”.

You have been conditioned to think like that by the environment you were raised in.

And that means that you can recondition your mind with new powerful and empowering thoughts, which become new beliefs that will lead you to act differently and get the results you want.

If you want to develop your individuality you must step out of the herd and dissociate from the beliefs and mental frames that don’t belong to you but have been ingrained in you.

Only by doing this, can you discover who you really are, what is most important for you in life, and live a life that is worth living.

Most of the time people instead live like robots, on autopilot, ruled by conditioning and habits developed over the years.

That’s where your awareness must come in.

When you become aware of how your thoughts, habits, convictions, and fears have been holding you back, you have the choice to change.

You have the choice to either carry on living the way you have always done or start a new chapter in your life and become the writer of your future.

What is your choice?

Awareness is the most important aspect of any change.

The more aware you become of your old way of thinking and acting, the sooner you will be able to let go of it and replace it with new empowering thoughts, habits, and actions.

Only then will you experience a sense of fulfillment and success.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Tidying up your wardrobe by removing all the stuff that doesn’t serve you means loving yourself.

And only through self-love can you show up to other people giving the best of yourself.

It’s your responsibility to work on your personal development every day by adding to your life what you need in order to move forward and contribute to a better world.

At the end of the day, if you improve yourself you have a chance to positively affect other human beings too, and this is the most rewarding thing you can aspire to.
