Do you doubt yourself? Do you think you are worth nothing? I am here to tell you that YOU MATTER, that YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN YOU THINK!
There's no better way to wake you up and let you understand how valuable you are than to read the following inspirational story.
A 50 DOLLAR NOTE
One day, a teacher entered his classroom holding a 50 dollar note in one hand, and asked his students: “Who would like this note”?
Needless to say, everyone raised their hands.
“Well, I am going to give this note to only one of you”, the teacher said before balling the note up.
Then, he repeated the same question: “Who would like this ball”?
Everyone raised their hands again.
The teacher dropped the ball, stepped on it, and ground it into the floor.
Then he picked it up and offered the dirty and crumpled 50 dollars to his students for the third time.
Despite seeing how dirty and crumpled the note was, the students showed interest in it again.
The teacher then said: “You see, all of you were always willing to accept my offer, no matter how badly I treated the note, and this is because the value of the money has not decreased; it is still worth 50 dollars, isn’t it?”
“Exactly”! the students replied with one voice.
“You see, throughout our life, we are going to be dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the struggles and challenges that life presents us with.
There will be times when we will be hurt so hard that we may feel hopeless and worthless to the extent that giving up may sound the best possible solution.
But what I showed you today teaches us a life lesson, i.e. no matter how many times and how hard life can kick us in the face, we’ll never lose our value”, the teacher told his students.
He then went on: “Always believe in yourselves, always value yourselves, irrespective of the failures and setbacks you will encounter in your life.
You are worth more than you think; never forget it”
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Way too often we let other people’s opinions and behavior, as well as the setbacks that are part of life, define our value.
Maybe you’ve been stepped on by people close to you, maybe you feel like you have been pushed aside, maybe you feel like you have been abandoned, betrayed or even that someone has taken advantage of you, or that the life circumstances you are experiencing now are unfair to you.
You may have reached the point where you consider yourself worthless, and you just feel like giving up.
There was a time when I felt like that, I used to let people and life circumstances define my value to the extent that I felt miserable and hopeless.
I felt I was not good enough, I did not have a vision and I had not figured out yet the reason for being alive, i.e. my IKIGAI.
But then I realized that nobody and nothing can take my value away from me, I am the only one responsible for it; I do matter!
Remember: your value is not defined by what other people think of you, or by what life throws at you; how much your life is worth depends on who you are and how you respond to people and challenges.
So, regardless of how dirty, crumpled, and trampled upon you may be, I want you to know that you matter, you can achieve everything you want and have a powerful impact on other people’s lives too; so, don’t waste the opportunity.
“Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!”. - Sylvester Stallone
